mySociety provide technology, research and data that help people to become active citizens. Our tools and services are used by individuals, journalists and civil society in over 40 countries around the world.
Over the years of working with global partners to build digital tools that support democracy, we have seen projects fail at the first step. Often this is because the political data needed isn’t open, is out of date or is unusable.
Our solution is to bring together a community of individuals and organisations to make information on every politician in the world freely available to all, through Wikidata, and work towards the creation of a Democratic Commons.
Electoral boundary files are an essential part of the data infrastructure of this Democratic Commons. A directory of electoral boundary sources is a potential benefit to many people and organisations and so we have partnered with Open Knowledge International to create this resource.
